There are two reasons your bind-off would be too tight: you're knitting too tight or you picked the wrong bind-off.
What does cast off loosely Knitways mean?
Binding off (or casting off) is simply the method of finishing a knitting project so that the stitches don't unravel. How much yarn should you leave to cast off?
Longtail cast-off yarn requirementsTo be on a save side, you'll need 5 times as much yarn for the bind off as your project is wide. This will leave a little tail of maybe 3-4 inches for weaving in the tails as well. (The exact factor was 4.6 for my swatch. It was 12 cm wide and i needed 56 cm for the cast-off.)
Do I have enough yarn to bind off?
Wrap the working yarn l-o-o-s-e-l-y around the project 3 times (wrap 4 times if you're paranoid). The amount of yarn it takes to wrap the width of your project those three times is how much yarn you will need to bind off.How tight is a cast supposed to be?
Your cast was applied in such a way as to minimize excessive movement and therefore should be snug but NOT too tight (there is a difference!). for an ARM cast, raise it as high above your heart as possible (overhead if necessary). for a LEG cast, lie down and prop your leg up on several pillows.STRETCHY BIND OFF for Beginners (game changing!)
Why are my stitches so tight?
Give the whole needle some loveA lot of the times, tight knitters will knit into their stitches using the tip of the needle without letting the stitch slide all the way onto the needle. This doesn't expand the stitch to the full width of the needle – only a fraction of its width! That's why the stitches are so tight.
